What does the foundation do?
The Foundation (‘Stichting BNP Paribas’) came to life in September 2025 with the objective of pursuing public benefit by donating to projects or organisations with a valid ANBI status active in one of three different areas:
- the protection of natural environment and biodiversity
- making culture accessible to marginalized groups
- the inclusion of vulnerable groups (with a focus on youth, women and refugees)
Our purpose is to foster a sustainable and inclusive society in the Netherlands, creating lasting positive impact for generations to come by funding and conducting activities that benefit the public. Our mission is to dedicate our time, financial resources and expertise to supporting impactful projects and initiatives, as well as other ANBI foundations, in the Netherlands that share our goals and values.
Together, our mission is to drive the transition towards a more sustainable and inclusive society that everyone deserves.
The Foundation dedicates its effort to three thematic transitions:
Transition to a net-zero economy
Supporting for instance initiatives of reforestation and other nature-based solutions;
Transition to an economy that respects planetary boundaries
Supporting initiatives aimed at protecting biodiversity and natural habitats, etc
Transition to an inclusive society
Supporting financially and socially excluded groups, including (former) refugees, youth and women, and making culture accessible to youth from families with financial concerns.
The role of the Foundation is to engage with frontrunners and associations leading the transition in each of the three thematic sectors and to support their programs by contributing with our financial resources and with the expertise and efforts of the employees of the BNP Paribas Group in the Netherlands. The budget of the Foundation comes from direct donations of the legal entities that are part of BNP Paribas Group in the Netherlands and from the BNP Paribas Group Foundation
(Home – BNP Paribas Foundation).

The Board of Directors of the Foundation selects the beneficiary projects on several criteria, which include communality with the purpose of the Foundation and an assessment of the expected impact of the projects.
The Foundation board members do not receive any remuneration for their activities other than reimbursement of reasonable expenses incurred in the performance of their duties. Furthermore, the Foundation does not employ staff and operates solely with volunteers, who receive no remuneration or compensation for their contributions. Furthermore, the BNP Paribas Group donates the time of some of its employees to the Foundation for its day-to-day management.
Status of the Foundation today
The Foundation has applied for the ANBI status and is currently awaiting completion of the review process by Tax Authorities in the Netherlands before starting with its operational activities.
