BNP Paribas is running Dam tot Damloop for Longfonds

September 19, 2013

On 22 September, BNP Paribas Corporate & Investment Banking is for the third time participating in one of the biggest running events in the world: the Dam tot Damloop. This year we will run for the Longfonds.

Every year, Stichting Sportevenementen Le Champion organizes the Dam tot Damloop in Amsterdam. On Sunday 22 September, as much as 55.000 runners will run 10 miles (16.1 km) from the Prins Hendrikkade in the center of Amsterdam through the IJtunnel to Zaandam. Along the way dozens of live music bands will be performing and approximately 250.000 spectators will cheer these athletes to the finish. All in all, it promises to be a very fun and fruitful event.

After running twice for Save the Children, BNP Paribas Corporate & Investment Banking will this year enroll two teams who will run for the Longfonds. This fund battles against lung diseases by striving towards a cleaner air and by doing research into treatments of lung diseases.

The longfonds has several special project to which their donations can go. As a special project, we have chosen ‘wat voor astma heb jij?‘. This project is dedicated to enhance the scientific knowledge on the variety of asthma’s that exist among children. A lot of children suffer from a form of asthma that do not have the ‘classical’ symptoms. Because of this, these children are often treated with incorrect medicines or the wrong dose of medicine. These errors can have a major impact on one’s life.

Colleagues, friends and family already raised a nice amount of money for this good cause. BNP Paribas will double this amount! Donations can be made until Thursday 26 on the special action page of Longfonds: BNP Paribas runs for Longfonds
