North Sea Jazz Festival

BNP Paribas is the proud sponsor of the North Sea Jazz Festival 2011. This festival took place on the 8th, 9th and 10th of July in Rotterdam. The main focus of the partnership is focused on the support of jazz talent and bringing children into contact with jazz music. BNP Paribas did this via its Foundation by supporting North Sea Jazz for Kids and the Paul Acket Award.North Sea Jazz

The Paul Acket Award “Artist Deserving Wider Recognition” is an annual award presented to an artist that deserves more attention for his/her exceptional musicianship. This prize is meant for talented jazz musicians that stand at the beginning of their career.

The North Sea Jazz Festival for Kids is a special North Sea Jazz Festival for children, with the purpose of enlarging the knowledge of jazz music among children and of increasing enthusiasm of children for this kind of music.

Jazz worldwide

TheBNPParibas has been a corporate patron of jazz in all its forms for over 16 years. Through its Foundation,BNPParibas encourages jazz musicians to develop their careers and supports several festivals and awards. It has been supporting musicians by offering them grants for recordings, as well as support for promoting concerts and tours in order to help these jazz virtuosos reach a broader audience and win new listeners.

The Foundation began its relationship with this most compelling of improvised musical forms with musicians Manuel Rocheman and Jacques Vidal. The success of these partnerships encouraged the Foundation to broaden its support, with a lineup that includes Jazz à Saint-Germain-des-Prés and Jazz à l’Etage festivals.

To demonstrate its ongoing commitment in this area, the Group sponsored the 19th edition of the Jazz Festival inSaint-Louis(Senegal’s second-largest city) through its local subsidiary BICIS (International Bank for Trade and Industry of Senegal).
