Triumph of Peace – Peace Palace in The Hague
In 2011 BNP Paribas has contributed to the conservation of the ceiling painting “Triumph of Peace in the Peace Palace in The Hague in 2011. This special three-part ceiling, painted by Gerard de Lairesse in 1672, hangs in the Ferdinand Bol-room of the Peace Palace and measures 9 by 5 meters. De Lairesse (1640 – 1711) was a painter from the golden age that became famous mainly thanks to his books about the art of painting and drawing. These books have been of great influence on 18th century painters like Jacob de Wit.
Restoration Museum van Loon
One of the projects of the Foundation in The Netherlands is the financial support to the restoration of the 18th century panels painted by Juriaan Andriessen at Museum Van Loon in Amsterdam.
The Foundation has been continuously supporting local initiatives and stimulates cultural exchanges between countries. Based on this, the Foundation sponsors continuously ‘Programme du Perron’ of Maison Descartes. ‘Programme du Perron’ supports translations of novels from French to Dutch.
Other projects sponsored by the Foundation in The Netherlands are among others the exhibition of French Drawings From Watteau to Ingres in the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam.
The foundation sponsored several cultural events on stage. Performances sponsored in The Netherlands are The Ballet Preljocaj at the Holland Dance Festival in The Hague, Le Concert Spirituel by Hervé Niquet in Het Concertgebouw and the dance festival Julidans in Amsterdam.
Dam to Dam run – Longfonds
BNP Paribas’ staff members participated on behalf of the Longfonds in the Dam to Dam run. The staff members of BNP Paribas run for the project of the Longfonds ‘Wat voor Astma heb jij’. This project is dedicated to enhance the scientific knowledge on the variety of astma’s that exist among children.
